Our approach

Healing begins when people are seen in their wholeness.

Eliza’s House combines Healing Centered Engagement with practical support, meaningful relationships, and community power. The goal is not simply to survive—it is to heal, grow, and thrive.

How we show up

We begin with what is strong, what is possible, and what can bloom.

Every person carries strengths, culture, relationships, dreams, and the capacity to shape their own future. Our role is to listen, partner, remove barriers, and help create the conditions for individual and collective healing.

  • Strengths before deficits
  • Partnership before prescription
  • Belonging before isolation

The model of care

BLOOM turns healing-centered values into a path toward thriving.

Inspired by Healing Centered Engagement, developed by Dr. Shawn Ginwright, BLOOM brings growth, restoration, compassion, and justice together in one holistic approach to individual and community well-being.

Belonging

Building community where every person can feel valued, heard, seen, and connected.

Targeted Universalism

Pursuing shared goals through targeted, evidence-based responses focused on people most affected by disparities and barriers.

Vital Conditions

Aligning resources and interventions with the underlying drivers of individual and community well-being.

Leading with Love

Centering the dignity, worth, agency, and humanity of every person in every decision and interaction.

BLOOM in action

Moving from surviving to striving to thriving.

Healing is not separated from justice. BLOOM recognizes the conditions that create harm, introduces radical healing practices, and expands access to the stability and opportunity people deserve.

Surviving

Recognize persistent conditions of injustice, respond to immediate needs, and create safer space for healing to begin.

Striving

Learn, create, and connect through radical healing interventions that awaken possibility and strengthen stability.

Thriving

Expand access to health care, stable housing, employment, culturally relevant support, and meaningful opportunity.

Who we serve

Care meets the person, not the category.

Eliza’s House partners with unhoused young people and women navigating breast cancer. Each person’s circumstances are different, so support begins with listening, dignity, and the resources that matter to their life.

Young adult services

27%

of people identified in Washington County’s 2026 Point-in-Time count were youth up to age 24.

Unhoused young people deserve more than crisis response.

Young adulthood should be a time to build stability, identity, skills, and possibility. Eliza’s House helps connect young people with practical resources and healing-centered opportunities that support a more secure future.

Breast cancer services

47%

of young women in a U.S. study experienced financial decline because of breast-cancer treatment costs.

A diagnosis should not become a financial cliff.

Treatment can affect income, employment, transportation, household expenses, and emotional well-being. Eliza’s House creates compassionate pathways to connection, stability, and practical assistance.

Point-in-Time counts are single-night snapshots and do not represent every person who experiences homelessness or housing insecurity over the course of a year.

Whole-person support

Support is personal, coordinated, and rooted in dignity.

  1. Listen

Begin with each person’s story, strengths, goals, culture, and definition of well-being.

  2. Stabilize

Help address urgent barriers and connect people with practical resources that create breathing room.

  3. Connect

Strengthen relationships, peer networks, trusted referrals, and a lasting sense of belonging.

  4. Grow

Create opportunities for learning, creativity, leadership, stability, and long-term thriving.
